The Chicago Bears have continued to add much-needed depth to the secondary, as the team has signed cornerback Tracy Porter to a one-year deal.

Porter in familiar hands with Pace, Fox

It is important to know your personnel, and both John Fox and Ryan Pace know him well. Porter spent four years with the New Orleans Saints from 2008-2011, racking up 158 tackles, seven interceptions and 32 passes defended in 43 games. His most notable contribution with the Saints, however, came in 2010 when Porter had a key pick-six in their Super Bowl XLIV victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

From one Bears connection to another, Porter spent 2012 with Fox and the Denver Broncos, where he started just four games due to an illness. His most productive year came in 2013 with the Oakland Raiders, where he started 16 games and tallied 67 tackles, 12 passes defended, two interceptions and a pick-six.

Last season, Porter started just three games with the Washington Redskins while battling shoulder and hamstring injuries. Only twice in his career has Porter played in more than 12 games, and just once has he played in a full season. In the regular season, he has 51 passes defended and 10 interceptions. Given his familiarity with Pace and Fox, his role could very well be a significant one in 2015.
